  • I Love this Bag!

An important feature that the product description leaves out is the zippered compartment in the center underside of the bag where you can store your AC adapter and cord - thus freeing up all other storage compartments for cell phone, pda, a cd or 2, flash drives, chewing gum.... The elastic pen holder is large enough for thick writing pens, not just a pencil-thin item.
For carrying just the essentials this is a great bag!

  • Great materials, but Major Drawback

This is a very well built case. The size is just right for netbook computers, and it expands to hold a lot of stuff. But it has a major design drawback that you need to be aware of before you buy.

The front compartment sides do not go up to the top of the case cover (the computer compartment sides do go to the top). There is a 1 1/2 to 2 inch gap on the sides to the top. If you left the case on its side, small things could fall out and get lost. I'm going to have long velcro straps sewn in to act as covers over the front compartments, preventing things from falling out.

If it wasn't for this problem, I'd give the case 5 stars...

Bought this for my MSI Wind U100. Every thing fits: USB DVD Drive, USB Floppy Drive, Mini-Mouse, AC Adapter & Power Cable, USB Hub with AC Adapter, my "Marvin The Martian Mousepad" (Vintage, try and find that one around anywhere), and of course, my MSI Wind U100 NetBook. It's the perfect fit if you want to take it all with you.

  • A very well made netbook bag.

I purchased this bag for my new Samsung NC-10 netbook as I was planning on taking it to Europe when I go on vacation. I read existing reviews and saw that it was generally well received by people who purchased it. I will admit I was drawn to a similar bag from Targus but read of that bags lack of padding necessary to protect the computer for traveling. So that was a deal-breaker for me and made up my mind for the Solo case. And I am happy to say it was a good decision.

I feel the quality and construction of the case is top-notch. The material appears to be durable, yet business-like. The locking clasp in the front is nothing special and is similar to that of many camera bags (how durable the part is waits to be seen). When opened, the clasp allows the case flap to open and expose the interior of the case. The back pocket is for storing the netbook (and in the case of the NC-10, its slip case as well) without allowing it to slide around inside. Inside padding is somewhat thin but is bolstered by extremely stiff walls which bolster the sides of the case. I think this provides an adequate level of protection for the netbook as long as you do not take unnecessary risks with it. The next pocket allows for storage of items inside two smaller cubby-pockets inside the larger one. The last pocket is available for stowing such items as the power cords and adapter. And the case also comes with a decent shoulder strap that is padded and attaches to two steel rings secured nicely to the case.

One feature I have yet to use is the case's ability to help speed you through airport security. This is what Solo refers to as "Check Fast" and allows you to open the clasp on the front of the bag, then release a Velcro-secured strap along the bottom of the case which allows the case to separate and lie flat for airport security scanning. Supposedly this negates the need to open the bag and empty the contents for TSA people (ruins their ability to inconvenience you further). I hope the bag works as advertised. When the case is open you also have access to a zippered storage pouch. I think this is a great place to store the case's shoulder strap when it is not in use.

So all in all I am quite happy with my purchase of this case. Be warned that it adds a couple of pounds to the weight of your netbook. I like it as I can carry my netbook, the power cords, and a wireless mouse (and still have room for a few other items. Also, as another reviewer points out, the more you place in the bag the more it tends to bulge outward. This has the adverse effect of causing the padded carry handle to recede into the case flap. I am unsure if this will stretch out with continued use. It is a little annoying but is not a deal-breaker in my opinion. The only other thing I wish Solo had done was make the pockets more expandable (like an accordion file)as they seem to stay narrow at the bottom as the top of the pockets open.

I would recommend this case to anyone you likes having all necessary accessories with them in a relatively compact bag.

I recently began using an HP Mini Netbook, and bought the Solo case for it. I carry the computer, mouse pad, wireless mouse, power supply with cord, small surge protector, two flash drives, small notebook, and a pen, with room to spare. The case is compact, convenient, and durable, fitting my needs perfectly. I don't need a complete computing station, but rather a top-of-the-line word processor and a simple photo processor. This package gives me these, and it looks as if Solo designed the case for me personally.

My main purpose in wanting a bag was for protection. I believe this bag will do just that. There is plenty of room for all I want to carry. It will be interesting to see how it works with the nine cell battery attached. Works fine with the 6 cell. Quick delivery and good packaging.

This is the perfect netbook case, the #1 reason for me having a netbook is to eliminate bulk and weight when traveling. For those who complain about lack of storage space I would say buy a bigger case. This bag holds my asus 1000he securely and has plenty of room for the odds and ends I need when traveling.

I was desperately searching for a carry bag for my 10.2" netbook, external CD/DVD drive and USB connectors, retractable mouse, AC power cord, 12V car adapter and last but not least...a mini USB hub. This all fit in this case and it still leaves room for more. I love how it is divided to keep your netbook safe by itself. The zipper pocket in between the two compartments is prefect for the power cords. As you put more stuff in, you can expand the width of the case so the case sits straight up properly balanced. It even comes with CD/DVD pockets and a handy dandy pen holder.

  • Designed for a Man, Not a Woman

Despite the very nice appearance of this very well-made bag, it's not as useful for my purposes as I would like it to be. All the fabric, padding, straps, compartments actually add extra bulk in places where it's not needed, which makes it heavy for its size and reduces the internal space of the compartments and pockets. Since my purpose in owning a lightweight netbook is portability in size and weight, it doesn't make a lot of sense to add weight and bulk without gaining a lot of storage capacity.

The flip-open styling could be improved. I can see myself in an airport security line flipping it open, only to have all the small accessories go spilling over the conveyor belt because the compartments are not secured well. So this is not the best choice for a woman who wants a messenger bag with enough room to also carry personal items.

  • great case for mini notebook travel

This case is intended for the no frills, light traveller. Rick Steves would give this messenger bag his blessing. Plenty of room (for its size)& well designed compartments make this small but usefull mini-notebook case a winner. Construction is superb and the fabric is thick & strong. The side pocket holds all the PC accessories I need on the road: mouse, ac power, cord, RJ45 cable. Two front pockets fit a 6 x 9 notebook, daytimer, small calculator, Dentyne, pen, reading light, even a small paperback. It lacks a water bottle compartment but that can be improvised.

Last, it is a breeze to go through airport security as PC access is via a flip of the cover.
